It’s no secret that ales guided many of our founding fathers through the difficulties of America’s early years, and Thomas Jefferson’s skill in brewing was renowned among his peers. While he claimed to never follow an explicit recipe (or perhaps he was just reluctant to give up more of Monitcello’s mysteries), historians have a close approximation of what our third president was up to in his cellar. Lucky for you, the recipe traveled well across time and place.
